Bernhard Handau

German heritage is an important element in Bernd's artwork. His inspiration is drawn from ancient Teutonic Germanic ancestry. Primitive and tribalism are words that come to mind when viewing some of his relic infused pieces. Yet, the work is highly modern and minimalistic in style. Bernd combines his passion for the beauty of nature and the mystery of a bygone civilization. His wooden pieces are created out of found objects, repurposed leather and reclaimed wood. Perfect elements to enhance an aged quality to the constructed pieces.

If Bernd’s wooden pieces are ancient in nature, his abstracts are at the opposite of the spectrum of time and can be looked at as futuristic. His abstracts are neon bright and striking to the eye with pops of color. They capture the viewer and whisks them into a landscape that conjures up atmospheric realms and otherworldly images.
