Svetozar Petrov

I was born in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria, in 1975. I hold my master's degree in Church Art - Icon Painting from the University of Veliko Tarnovo in 2000. After some years of painting icons, I tend to focus on oil paintings because I need the freedom to express myself as an artist without the limitations of the church canon.
I'm working with oil paint in a modern style, mainly using a spatula. My inspiration comes from different and sometimes opposing objects - nature and cities, the tranquility of the forest, the dynamics of urban life, the freshness of flowers, and the beauty of still life. No matter where it comes from, I work with passion, and my paintings are full of light and colors - warm, bright, and vivid. My work focuses on natural scenes, still life, city streets, and seascapes.
Since 2000 I have been managing an art gallery in my hometown where over 5o Bulgarian artists are showing their artworks.
