My ceramics and prints are a physical and emotional response to the urban landscape of Liverpool. I find constant inspiration in this richly varied and ever-changing city and incorporate selected elements of it into my work to create highly personal landscapes in clay and print.
I have been a practising ceramic artist since obtaining my degree at Brighton Polytechnic in 1988. During this time, I have also worked in the ceramic industry creating large scale murals for domestic and commercial spaces and undertaken work as an arts facilitator helping local communities and schools realise their art projects.
For many years the foundation of my practise had been figurative sculpture however around five years ago I signed up for a print course and this had a huge impact on my ceramics. I now make wall-based work using the collagraph plate to impress into the clay to create work with highly tactile surfaces. I am currently working on large scale pieces that incorporate my prints.
