Terra Keck

Terra Keck is an image maker and performance artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She received her MFA from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and her BFA from Ball State University. Keck’s prints and drawings can be found in permanent collections in Italy, Japan, Fiji, and Hawai'i, as well as in several university collections in the mainland U.S. She is a founding member of GRRIC Contemporary, where she has co-curated multiple exhibitions.

Kecks work explores the cultural phenomena of folklore, magic, and spirit visitation. Her art practice is informed by the performance and psychological nature of mediumship, a spiritualist practice that relies heavily on light and darkness as a means of direction and narrative building. The narratives of her pieces revolve around historical disasters and how our minds make them mythical in hindsight.
