I consider all my work to be drawings and not paintings. I use a variety of water soluble mediums on watercolour paper, pens, pencils and brushes to draw with. I layer up my marks until I am happy with the outcome.
My drawings are done primarily to amuse myself, but they do harbour consistent themes that I hold dear to my heart. Many of us live in an environment that is becoming more urban. Our families and those that we bring with us (our domestic pets and other animals that we have introduced via colonialism) are affected by traffic, gentrification, infill housing, and displacement. Some of the houses in my pictures are no longer in the real world, having been replaced by multiple townhouses. I also adore the child’s view of the world – which is often so different from our own grown up world, I try to capture a child - like view of the world in my drawings. You will find a narrative of “times gone by” in some of these works, as times are changing, and I want to capture some of the memories that make us smile.
These are happy works meant to amuse and engage the viewer in their detail. Older housing, urban/suburban environments, happy memories, our domestic pets (especially cats) and how we get along together living side by side, ...

Community Arts Tutor - I worked for 15 years as a community arts tutor – tutoring children and adults. This was valuable education for me as a teacher of others.
I enjoyed watching other people learn, and it made me aware of the benefits that making art can give a person. Just as much as having art on the wall enervates your spirit, so does making art.
