Anthony Hurd

I'm a queer artist living in Albuquerque NM with my husband, my step daughter, and two pups. After 20 years in advertsing I set out to do full time art 8 years ago. Over the years my styles and subjects have changed dramatically but recently it all came together in these latest explorations of queer romance.

These works are the representation I wish I'd have in my youth. Growing up in the 80's and during the AIDS crisis, the future of a queer life was pretty terrifying with very limited views on how it would turn out. I decided just a year ago to change that narrative for myself. That love existed through and beyond it. All ages, ethnicities, body types, and identities grew old together, found new love together, had their first dates and they're 60 year anniversaries. They stood strong in public, and in nature, they lived fearlessly and they had loving and romantic relationships that withstood everything the world could throw at them. That's the world I choose to live in now. I hope it's unwavering, I hope it's forever lasting in whatever form it contintues to take.
