Mitja Zilverberg

For Artist Eric Zilverberg, painting is like breathing.
Many people know the now 81-year-old Amsterdam artist Eric Zilverberg from Galerie Zilver on the Prinsengracht, under the Westertoren in the heart of Amsterdam. For years, Amsterdam was the ideal workplace and exhibition space. After his departure, the necessary blobs of paint were clearly visible on the floor, telling the story of his life and works.

For Eric, art must have a soul, it must wander like a gypsy through his mind and arise from the heart. This applies to both the paintings and the bronze sculptures that Eric makes. The emotional charge is therefore a characteristic that is repeatedly expressed in his works.

In his time he studied at the Academy of Amsterdam 60 years ago you went on yearly study trips in Europe. This is when he spent 2 weeks painting with Salvador Dali and later on he was painting with Pablo Picasso
