About Asta Kulikauskaitė

Born in 1973 in Kaunas, lives and works in Luxembourg. For me art is a both a pathway to my inner world and a means to share my feelings, dreams, innate tendencies, fantasies and desires with the outside world. In the creative process I first and foremost observe the unique world of images, sounds, forms and colours, I contemplate on the essence and meaning of human existence. The outer world, as manifested through music, surroundings, situations and encounters, is reflected in the abstracted form through my paintings. Presently I find nature in all its forms, shapes and colours as the ultimate source of my inspiration. I try to convey through my paintings the ideas of immensity, beauty, serenity, mystery, light and darkness. I experiment with a variety of techniques and artistic media, such as acrylic, oil and watercolor paints, graphite and color pencils, Chinese ink.

Education:

1998 – 2000 A Master of Arts, specialisation of easel painting.
1993 – 1998 A Bachelor of Arts, specialisation of easel painting.
1984 –1991 Kaunas Art Gymnasium (former J.Naujalis Art School).
1980 – 1984 Kaunas Veršvų Secondary School.
