Ha Kirae

Erica is a Sydney-based artist, drawn to textile manipulation art-making practices. She has studied a range of arts and textile practices through the University of Technology Sydney, the College of Fine Arts and through workshops by various practitioners. She works in ancient textile techniques, found objects and movement / embodiment.


In my most recent work, I have focused on crafting the canvas. Working in this way, the canvas is not a neutral "blank space" where ideas and images are staged. Instead the canvas reveals, conceals, protrudes and is an active participant in the artwork as a whole.
