Shyhing Wu

A university student at Buffalo, NY, alumna (2001), "Michelle" Shyhing Wu honed her visual skills in the fast-paced design world, yet art has always been her true calling. The pandemic of 2020 provided the much-needed moment to fully embrace her true passion, a return to painting that felt like coming home.
Ms. Wu's distinctive work sits at the crossroads of the real and the surreal, delving into how our subconscious minds shape our world. Her intuitive approach, characterized by layering unique brushwork and rich texture, creates immersive experiences that spark emotional and psychological discovery. She aims to illuminate what lies beneath the surface—fragmented memories and internal landscapes—offering viewers a compelling visual invitation to reflect and connect with their inner selves.
