Lucilla Cortesi

I'm a italian painter, I'm self-taught and I started to paint seriously in 2019 when the need to paint became urgent for me.
As a self-taught artist, I looked for my own way to solve the many problems related to the rendering of materials and color and the harmony of the whole, as well as fidelity to the subject.
I mainly paint still life, especially nature and everyday life objects. My paintings are inspired by simplex objects for the meaning that resides in their history and for the memories they evoke me.
In my artworks I express the duality between the joy I feel while painting and the restlessness of the world around us.
I choose to paint with oil colours due to its drying time that allow me to develop my paintings in an intimistic process of meditation.
As a support, besides canvas and wood, I love to paint on panels of scrap wood (OSB and playwood panel) to convert something we consider waste into a thing unique and cool.
