Lucia Antonini Garcia

I am a visual artist, singer-songwriter and music teacher, born in Madrid, from a Spanish Italian family in 1980.
In my first years working as a visual artist, I´ve been exploring different art disciplines as drawing, painting, sculpture, relational art, photography, art installations. I worked from 2006 till 2011, mostly with relational art and art installations, very focused on conceptual art and mostly working for art institutions. Since 2011 till 2019 I spent 8 years learning music and developing my musical talent, studying, recording and playing concerts and 5 years ago, I decided to come back to my first love, painting and drawing to develop my visual language already influenced by all my experiences. I have been working with the topics of identity and culture, language, and recently I am focusing in symbology,(archetypes, geometry and color), botany and art as a tool for spiritual development and healing.

I began my artistic education in 1998 at the Complutense University of Madrid, where, after completing my Art degree, I did my Master, under the direction of Josu Larrañaga, conducting the research “Postmodern time in the mirror of painting.” I studied four months, due to an Erasmus Scholarship, at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München in 2002, with the land art artist Nikolaus Lang. I also attended independent workshops with several Spanish artist like Nacho Criado, Joan Fontcuberta, Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Eva Lootz and Teresa Lanceta.
I studied music independently since a teenager and in 2013 I was accepted at Berklee College of Music, in Boston, USA, where I spent three years completing a diploma in professional music. In the last two years I’ve been studying with the artist Eulalia Valldosera.

I exhibited in different art institutions as La Casa Encendida, the Arco Art Fair, the Museum of America in Madrid, La Capella in Barcelona, Centro del Carme, Reales Atarazanas and The Botanical Garden in Valencia, Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto de Gijón, Carmen del Campo Gallery in Córdoba, Espacio Subte in Montevideo, Uruguay, among others and I was included in the archive of young creators of the Matadero of Madrid by curator Javier Duero in 2011.
