Tabi Talou

Originally from Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa, born in France and raised in Germany, Stessy Tabi is now based in the south of France. She is a self-taught artist and illustrator with a background in law and international relations. Her journey into art began as a personal exploration of identity and storytelling, evolving into a passionate celebration of women’s stories and the beauty of diversity.

Growing up surrounded by narratives and beauty standards that didn’t reflect her identity, Stessy was immersed in dominant cultures that often disregarded her heritage and rarely valued any form of beauty outside their own. This left her unaware of the profound richness and beauty of African cultures. Through art, she rediscovered and embraced the stories, strength, and beauty of women, especially those often overlooked or misunderstood.

Each portrait she creates becomes part of what she calls her “tribe”—an ever-growing collection of powerful, emotive representations of women.
