Born on December 15, 1952, Gustavo Piedrahita is a visionary artist whose creative journey is shaped by an eclectic career spanning graphic arts, design, and technology. After initially working as a draftsman and designer in the textile industry, he transitioned to electronics, managing his own workshop until 1984. However, his restless creativity and profound artistic sensitivity led him to embrace painting as full-time vocation.
Piedrahita's work is a harmonious fusion of representational and abstract art, resulting in a syncretic approach that reflects his unique vision. His figurative pieces, rooted in realism, encompass compositions of still life, human figures, and compelling themes that address social, environmental, and scientific issues, alongside elements of magical realism. His abstract creations, however, transcend conventional chromatic or gestural expression, utilizing color, shape, line, and movement to evoke and reveal deeper aspects of human experience and reality.

Since 1994, I have showcased my work in solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Many of my pieces now reside in private collections across Colombia, the United States, and Norway."
