Hello! I’m Mira Nicole van Rhoon, born in the vibrant city of Amsterdam in 1966. Art and design are in my blood, thanks to a family history rich with creativity and courage. My grandmother, Jacoba, was not only a talented photographer but also someone who never stopped innovating. My uncle Eduard’s paintings gracing the Rijksmuseum and his brave role in the resistance during WWII have always inspired me. Even my great-grandfather’s architectural masterpieces leave a lasting impression on my heart and work.
Life had its own plans for me. While I was excited about attending renowned fine arts and design schools, family circumstances gently steered me onto a self-taught path. This twist allowed me to discover my own voice, experimenting with materials and finding joy in repurposing everyday objects into something beautiful and unexpected. It’s this hands-on creativity and a keen eye for emerging trends that give my work its unique flair.
The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging time, but it also opened new doors for my creativity. I turned to canvas as a refuge, letting my emotions and experiences flow onto the surface. Traveling across Europe, Australia, and beyond has filled my art with diverse influences, from stunning architectur...
Although I am a self-taught artist, I have enriched my creative journey by participating in various courses and workshops. I’ve explored spray painting, delved into glass painting and firing, ventured into jewellery making, and learned the intricacies of silk screen printing, to name a few. These opportunities have broadened my skills and inspired me to incorporate diverse elements into my pieces, enhancing my artistic expression.
