Lori Schouela is a mixed media painter and installation artist born in Montreal,Quebec. The artist earned an MFA from The Museum School at Tufts University (2023) with a concentration in painting, a 4-year studio arts diploma from the SMFA at Tufts University (2007), The Fifth Year Certificate from the
SMFA at Tufts University (2009), and a BFA from Syracuse University (1980).
Schouela’s work explores the nature of the mind as a place of quiet refuge. Using rose petals as a tool for observation in exploring the harmony in all things, the
artist reveals the unseen wonders that lie inside the rose.
Schouela has exhibited in galleries nationally and internationally and has received numerous awards in painting. Her work was exhibited at Scope Art Basel, Basel, Switzerland; Art Basel Miami Beach; Art on Paper, New York City; Affordable Art Fair, New York City; Architectural Digest Home Design Show, New York City, 2014-2019. Schouela’s solo exhibition Suspended Landscapes was on view at The Danforth Museum, Framingham State University, 2021. She received The Massachusetts Cultural Council Award in Choreography, 2022.
