16-03-1969 I want to see a glimpse of confusion in your habits After many years of teaching art, trouble-addict Bob Roes interrupted his job at age 36 and chose to cultivate his restless search about what, how and why to paint. His great taste for change and doubt leads him constantly wandering between his intense monumental abstract canvasses and his razor sharp cynic figurative paintings. More and more Bob shows an integrated isolation facing an overexposed world which drives him slowly but certainly to the edges of what is considered to be normal society. In some very productive moments he seems to have found a way of painting his ideas in a natural and typical style with economical but precise strokes in Pruissian Blue. After having burned most of his old work as a purification of the mind, he was great at exposing nothing for years while patiently stocking his ideas in the cellar of his mind. Doubt vanished in his work and his paintings appear nowadays as a rsum of his contemplation with numerous uncommon thoughts and visions. Maybe you can share some.
