Aurélie Lafourcade

Aurélie LAFOURCADE, lives and works in Perpignan.
She worked for more than two decades in film production, between Toulouse and Paris, during which time she also practiced photography and modeling.
In 2002, Aurélie goes to India to see her father who lives in Pondicherry. It is a real aesthetic shock. She is particularly fascinated by the brightly coloured, mould-infested walls; she takes hundreds of photos.
Back in France, she goes «the hunt for walls» and builds a database. At the same time, she is attending workshops to draw nudes based on living models. The process of creation is underway.
In 2010, Aurélie left Toulouse and moved to Perpignan. She continues to follow the production of films and in parallel drawing, and photography. A workshop is planned in her new life project.
In 2011, her father dies brutally in an accident. She returns to India. This time, she is in emotional shock.
On her return, she decides to leave all the space for creation.
She fully invests in her studio and then begins to exhibit her works. Her first exhibition is a great success and encourages her to continue. Her work is initially inspired by her photographs of walls and materials in which she subtly integrates her drawings of nudes in ink.
