Ioana Ursu

Ioana Ursu, visual education teacher and artist, a graduate of the National University of Arts in Bucharest (History and Theory of Art) and the Faculty of Humanities of UGAL, has participated in solo and group art exhibitions in Romania and abroad - Spain and Greece - and is a book illustrator and essayist.

The artist proposes a visionary journey through her own existence, aiming at the soul’s emergence from paroxysm, the surpassing of limits, and the redefinition of its sensitive horizon. These will be replaced in subsequent compositions by a more optimistic tone, by self-assurance; the return to essence is announced through the entire symbolic approach, bringing to the foreground marginal signs in today’s art (the mosquito, the flies, the beetle), yet with a profoundly revelatory character for an ontological discourse.

The conceptual and expressive horizon does not stop here; it is further argued through other discursive accents, as the artist places flies in the entourage of the human figure, as a reflection of the solidarity of evil elements, determining the evoked character to cover her eyes with her hands, renouncing reality and all that generates it.
