Maiya Petra

Based in Paphos, Cyprus, Maiya Petra is a figurative and surreal artist exploring the tension between human connection and isolation in contemporary life. Beginning her artistic journey at the age of eight with her first solo exhibition, she has developed a visual language that melds emotive portraiture with symbolic elements—often using birds or urban icons to evoke deeper psychological themes.

Her collector-favorite pieces are characterized by bold color contrasts, conceptual motifs—such as solitary phone booths in frozen landscapes—and a poetic tension between presence and absence. A notable series features a bright red British phone booth trapped within an ice cave, prompting reflections on how tools designed for connection can create solitude.
