Edgar Ruesga

I’m a Mexican painter devoted to classical realism with a contemporary spirit. Through my work, I seek to capture the sacred within the ordinary—moments filled with light, tenderness, and mystery. I paint mostly in oil using the alla prima technique, which allows me to preserve the freshness and vitality of each stroke.

My greatest inspiration comes from faith, family, and the masters of old. I’m also a musician, a craftsman, a father, and a husband—and all these roles shape the way I see and feel the world.

Lately, I’ve been working on a series of religious paintings that bring biblical scenes into warm, human light. I believe the divine can be found in everyday moments—like a child’s gaze or a simple act of love.

I hold a degree in Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. While I’m often described as a self-taught painter, I prefer to say I’ve been formed by the generosity of others. Much of what I know has come from the incredible artists who share their knowledge with the world. I’m especially grateful for the teachings and example of Mark Carder, Sarah Margaret Gibson, and Vladimir Volegov, whose approaches to light, form, and emotion have deeply influenced my work.
