Gyeongjin An is a Korean sculptor whose work is grounded in a sustained inquiry into the human condition. His practice began with figurative clay works and expanded into shadow and void-based pieces that delicately evoke emotion, memory, and absence. He later turned to spheres—the most essential units of form—as a way of exploring fluid identity and the temporality of being. Recently, his kinetic sculptures have sought to materialize meditative states through movement. An’s work reveals restrained emotional intensity and emphasizes sensation over narrative, emptiness over density, and transformation over fixity. This sensibility, rooted in Korean aesthetics yet articulated in a contemporary sculptural language, allows his to pose quiet yet profound questions about what it means to be human. He has held 15 solo exhibitions and participated in over 150 curated group shows in Korea and internationally.
