I've created a more abstract and spontaneous series which is slightly different than my typical work. Figs are the featured element which is an important symbol for me representing femininity and sensuality while also evoking brain-like imagery. Here I explore a playful dialogue between color, form, pattern and image.
Julie Mauskop (b. 1986, Brooklyn, NY) received a BFA in Painting from The Rhode Island School of Design in 2009, a MA Degree in Art Therapy from New York University in 2013 and completed her MA Degree in Fine Art at Luca School of Arts in Brussels in 2017. She has shown in New York City, Brooklyn, Paris, Detroit, Brussels, La Plata and Shanghai. Her most recent exhibitions were with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair (Director’s cut online), UTA Artist Space in Los Angeles (solo exhibition), Cohle Gallery in Paris, L+ Art Center/ Suomei M50 Gallery in Shanghai, The Hole Gallery in NYC, David Zwirner’s online Platform and at SHRINE Gallery in NYC (solo exhibition). She is also currently represented by MTArt Agency in London, UK.
