Petros Thanos

Petros Thanos is a contemporary painter and founder of ERE | Emotional Realism Expressionism, a personal painting direction where recognizable human presence is transformed into emotional and material intensity.

His work is rooted in lived experience and centered on the human condition. His artistic journey spans nearly four decades, beginning at the age of thirteen and evolving continuously into a deeply personal visual language.

Through portraiture, human figure studies, iconography, abstract painting, and work on canvas, wood, and wall surfaces, he developed a multi-layered approach that led to a free, expressive, and emotionally driven form of painting.

Alongside his artistic path, he is a Medical Doctor, MD, PhD, Consultant Surgeon in Urology and Andrology. His daily engagement with human vulnerability, resilience, silence, fear, desire, pain and recovery informs his artistic work — not as direct representation, but as atmosphere, tension, material density and emotional presence.
