ABOUT
EDUCATION

Valeria Gafin approaches painting as a form of quiet documentation — not of events, but of atmosphere and emotion. Her work exists in the space between observation and feeling, where light, memory, and presence intersect.

Working across oil, watercolor, and mixed media, she allows each medium to shape the narrative differently. Oil offers depth and weight; watercolor invites spontaneity and fluidity. Rather than committing to a single stylistic identity, Gafin follows intuition, letting mood and environment guide the composition.

Her landscapes and studies often emerge from direct experience — moments of stillness, subtle shifts in light, and places encountered in solitude. The act of painting becomes a process of slowing down and examining form, temperature, and silence with deliberate attention.

Through restrained palettes and thoughtful compositions, she seeks not to replicate reality, but to translate its emotional resonance. Each piece becomes a fragment of an ongoing exploration — of distance and closeness, structure and softness, permanence and change.

If her work invites the viewer to pause — even briefly — and feel a sense of quiet recognition, then the painting has fulfilled its purpose.

Constantly self improving - never stop learning -
Valeria Gafin combines a background in Finance and Banking with over a decade of formal fine arts education completed alongside her primary and secondary studies. This early and sustained artistic training established a strong technical foundation that continues to inform her contemporary practice.

Her professional experience within multinational shipping environments, together with international exposure and life in Spain, contributes to a layered understanding of place, movement, and perspective. Rather than anchoring her work to a single cultural identity, she draws from an evolving, transnational sensibility.

Working predominantly in oil and watercolor, Valeria develops compositions that balance structural discipline with emotional depth. Her illustrations explore light, tonal relationships, and tension, translating observations into refined, contemplative works.

Her practice represents a dialogue between precision and intuition — where early academic formation meets lived experience and continuous artistic inquiry.
