Jenna Newton

Artist Statement:

My works are either explorations of emotion, feeling or state of mind. These paintings contain images of these women, primary asian women, revealed through transfers of photographs of fashion models, and water based materials. My interest in fashion photography and models of fashion has been a long interest of mine. We look at media and fashion as a big part of our lives today. When I see or read through media,fashion magazines, TV we see diversity, sex appeal, perfection, reality. I focus on who i don't get to see everyday in fashion and i get to bring them in the spotlight. Much of my recent work has been collage based and uses the techniques of adding and subtracting layers. Building up and taking away layers has always been part of my life. "” Jenna Newton
