Caroline Scott

Artistic choices are from life's experiences. My paintings are half influenced by music as evidenced by lyrical, fluid, acrylic layers coiling into rorschach flourishes, and half from my glittering globe-trotting fashion modelling career as muse to the iconic American designer, Bill Blass - my style mentor. Both are inextricably linked, with several paintings reminiscent of heavily embroidered rich Indonesian, or Chinese silk fabric. Having a stint on the CBGB stage during the punk rock scene, provides the gritty reality layers resting under pretty sparkling facades. I can usually pull off dressing in that NY cool edgy sophisticated style, yet from deep within I know there is a Dolly Parton rhinestone jumpsuit waiting to strut around my Lower East Side neighborhood. Highly unlikely, my paintings do the strutting for me with glitter taking on a painterly spontaneous, soulful, introspective role.
