Cynthia Ellis

My arts practice began in Perth West Australia at the completion of my Diploma in Art and Design TAFE in 1991, with a double major in painting. I won an Innovation in Design Award in 1995 and a scholarship award in my second year of TAFE. In 2002 I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Australia for painting. I have conducted an artist residency in China and fifteen artist residencies here in Australia. I have held over ten solo shows, with a solo show of new works end ofJuly 2012. I have two prominent works that were commissioned and of a large scale in foyers of large buildings in Perth. They are located; Alluvion; Mounts Bay Road Perth and the Commonwealth Bank Building 150 St.George's Terrace Perth, where I was also commissioned to create a sculpture for the Japanese restaurant area. I am held in collections throughout Australia; AGWA, Lawrence Wilson Art Collection, Ballidu Contemporary Art Society and numerous private collections here in Australia and abroad.
