Daria Zapala (Pala Island) is a Polish-born, Glasgow-based artist with two MFAs in Printmaking and Fine Art Painting. Her practice explores the semiotics of nature and the theory of sound, filtered through her unique perspective as a professional tree surgeon. By blending traditional brush techniques with a process-heavy, subconscious approach, she creates abstract works that capture the strength and hope found in animal symbolism. She is a former recipient of the Ranald & Jennifer May Scholarship and has exhibited widely across Europe and the UK.
