Kalevi Liski

I was born 1937 in a small village called Vuoksela in Carelia, Finland. I worked over 30 years as a stage designer at the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) and in various theatre and opera productions. Nevertheless, painting has always been the most important way to express myself.

In my paintings I try to express my inner feelings on canvas or paper with light and colour. I am very interested in trying to manifest the tension between these two elements. From there on it is up to the viewer to decide what happens.
