Francesco De Napoli

Born in Trani, Puglia, southern Italy in 1964.
I started taking pictures in 1982 when my father gave me my first camera on the occasion of my first trip to Europe. Self-taught, I immediately start developing and printing my photos in black and white. Black and white film will be specific to almost all of my photography. Initially fascinated by the landscape, later I will focus on the portrait and the human figure, especially the female one, which still represents most of my photographic production. I use small, medium and large format film (4x5 ").

I mainly deal with:
- portrait and human figure
- photographic research
- didactics of the image
- black and white fine-art print
- ancient photographic techniques (wet collodion, print on salted paper).

- Since January 2010 I am the founder of the Camera Chiara School of Photography in Bari - Italy, where I carry out my teaching and photographer activities.
