I was born near Montreal, Canada, in 1981. I grew up in several places in the country side where I probably forged my taste for woodlands and lonely spaces till I came back in town for teen aging.
I have always drew in my childhood but now, after a BFA at UQÀM in 2005, ten years as a professional artist and many exhibitions of all kind, I can tell my work is more refined and is getting more poetic. The foundation of my inspiration stays the same and I go darker or happier depending on the mood.
I am inspired by universal themes of human nature, sometimes obvious, sometimes more poetic, sometimes with accumulations of symbolic accessories and other flashy colors creating a disturbing sensation of tranquility in a black nothingness. In one way or another, my paintings are inevitable windows of interpretation from which one does not return indifferent. The canvas is crafted to be the smoothest, most often on a black base that the thick layer of polish filled to create an intense depth and bring out all the subtlety and softness of textures and colors.
In any way, I think the important thing is the doubtful smile at the end.
