Richard Burniston

I am a British visual artist, from London.

My practise is primarily concerned with ideas relating to place, and place-making, mediated by time, memory and myth. My work is principally photographic, but I also make work with moving image, audio, book making and installation. My working process requires patient research of a site’s history, and repeated exploration of each location, an endeavour indelibly inscribed into the work.

I was awarded the degree of Master of Arts in Photography and Critical Theory from the University of Brighton studying under luminaries such as Magnum photographer Mark Power. I
graduated with Distinction.

My work is collected internationally and exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Scottish Academy, Museum of London, Towner Gallery, and Somerset House.
