Richard Fox

I am a New York native, and have been painting over 30 years. I would call myself a passionate recorder of scenes around me, looking for odd details that suffuse everyday life. The unifying element in my work is contrasts of vibrant color schemes; I love nothing more than planning how to bring out a detail by exposing it to unexpected tonal combinations. I paint in both watercolor and oil, and the two mediums lend themselves to different languages yet the eye and the vision are the same. People, places, animals, flora-- these are my subjects.
