Rebecca Hodel

My paintings and prints are based on reflections and memories that come from my direct experience with nature.
Some days the mere fact of seeing a tree or a cloud feels like perfect happiness. In my work I hope to convey the affirming and steading presence of nature.

I am not concerned with a direct replication of images, but rather in representing nature’s energy and motion, in making its rhythms visible. I am interested in movement and growth, from the microcosm to the macrocosm, the dynamic processes of nature, and the impact of light.

My work is a search for natural order, an underlying structure, and an organized space. I am searching for a better understanding of our relationship with time, space and the natural world.
