As an artist I am a print maker. I describe my process simply; a provocation and a response on paper or canvas. I wonder if I might be best described as an essayist. Discursive interests, idiosyncratic responses to ‘masses in light.’ Do I speak in different languages, or am I the playwright managing a cast of characters and stages? Lately I’ve been thinking of describing it like a Wilson’s cloud chamber with multiple notions colliding and leaving a momentary trace. Like the cloud chamber I might see traces of almost any part of our visual history in the course of a day. I stop when something provokes me. And as print maker, often a hybrid, mixed media, but mostly lens based to start. I make pictures and take pictures, sometimes they are born of laughter, sometimes by pain; by study, or happenstance. Highly eclectic discrete series, exploring the languages and grammars of my process of choice.
