Lu Sakhno

I have been painting professionally since 2014, mainly with acrylics or oil on canvas.
My early works were very expressive and bright in both color and style. When I was fascinated by the Impressionists, I was later inspired by the paintings of modernists such as Modigliani, Picasso, and Matisse. The fascination with the paintings of these works resulted in a series
of works in 2019 “Big Ears, or the Aristocracy of the Inner World”. This is a phantasmagoric cycle of works where all people were depicted as Hares. I demonstrated this at a personal exhibition in Kyiv at the Barvy art space in 2021.
The 2020 series of works “The Garden of Misteries” is inspired by the ancient art of Ancient Rome. Works from this series were published in 2021 by The Aerogramme Center for Arts and Culture in the American art magazine “The MobileLibrary”. Three significant works from this series were presented during 2022 as part of the VITA UKRAINE project in Italy in the cities of Venice, Milan, Rome and Florence.
In 2021, I created several works in the retro style and geometric shapes, inspired by the artist Escher.
In 2022-2025, I was exploring the world and a new reality in Canada.
