Born and educated in Leicester as a young man I had a keen interest in photography. Later in life I enrolled on a foundation course at Southfield College Leicester which led to a fine arts degree at Coventry University. After my degree I turned to painting and moved to St.Ives Cornwall. The dramatic cost of West Penwith offers such a broad and diverse source of imagery, that it has influenced my perception of painting. My recent paintings spring from a new challenge using watercolour. My paintings of landscapes do not attempt to reproduce the visual reality of place, they are my personal response to the light and energy which exists there.
