Dave Hay'

I was born, August 14, 1962, in Joliet, Il to an Art teacher and a College Professor and Coach and was raised primarily in Springfield, Massachusetts. I earned a degree in Art from Springfield College and an Art Education degree from Westfield State College. I have been teaching as an elementary and middle school Art teacher in western Massachusetts for 19 years. In the past few years I decided to seriously pursue a second career as a fine artist. My paintings are inspired by color and movement. They are abstract and color field in nature with vibrant colors that produce a poetic energy of contrast and convergence. I seek to create art that is its own entity, that confronts you, levels the illusion of the picture plane and reveals the truth. I strive to balance this along with a desire to create art with character through color, space, shape and brush stroke, creating an engaging experience for the viewer, both visually and intellectually.
