ABOUT
EXHIBITIONS

I grew up in an industrial town in Saxony (Germany) and studied Photojournalism at Leipzig University, graduating in 1983. After a year in advertising,
I moved to London in 1984 and returned to photojournalism, working for the London Bureau of Associated Press and later for the COI Overseas Press Service. Most of my clients today are cultural and environmental organisations.

I am particularly interested in portrait and documentary photography, showing people in the context of their occupations and their environment. Photographs from my archive are held in public collections such as the National Portrait Gallery and the archives of The Royal Academy of Arts and
The Royal Society in London.

Reversing the idea of the environmental portrait for landscape photography, I enjoy portraying our natural environment in relation to people.
I am intrigued by objects and traces in a landscape that tell stories or hold secrets about someone who was there before me.
