Yuriy Bodnar

I was born in small village in deep Karpathy mountains, from the early childhood felt passion for art and painting. My paintings are reflection of my perception of the world, it's harmony, beauty and multiplicity. Forming me as an artist goes with its roots to the turning point of the XX and XXI centuries: collapse of Sovjet Union, revival of ukrainian consciousness and state itself. We started to breath free, and to be open to interesting and captivating external world, before so assiduously closed for us. In our young ukrainian society grew up and became more complex exthetical tastes, appeared interest in spiritual life of a person and his/her interrelation with surrounding visible and invisible life. All this changes influenced my work. With every touch of brush I try to breath life into object of paintng. For me life is in sun, in divine rays that fill almost all my painting with. With the help of this intersected "sunbeams" I can underline variety of life, nature, people. They create invisible planes in the light of which objects start interacting, figures that according to conception I want to emphasize approaching, other distancing, but all them together tell a story. Since 1995 I'm a constant participant in regional, national and international either group of solo exhibitions (In particular: President's Administration of Ukraine and Ukrainian House (Kyiv), Parliament of Bratislava, Trebisov Museum, Banska Bystryca, Monastir in Tunis, Lugano,Rome, Athens, Paris. In 2011 I won the First Prize in IVth Biennale of icon painting and sacral art in Trebisov, Slovakia. My works are in private collections in France, USA, Israel, Germany, Tunis, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, In private collections in Ukraine, among others as a constant exposition in National Ethnological Museum (Ternopil), in funds of National Art Museum "Bokshay-Erdeli" and Museum of Kozak's history in Baturyn.
