Morela Avilan

The nature has been the center and motivation of my art proposal. I have developed not as a representation of original but as an expression of moods, feelings. All that is mysterious, symbolic and mystical within us. My search focuses on creating organic and deep landscapes, product interpretation of the natural world; always conceived from a unique and personal gestures. The use of color brushstrokes generates a atmosphere of suggestion and reflection in the viewer, allowing recreate their own inner landscape.

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. In 1983, I received a degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. From 1983-1984, I studied photography with Professor Claudio Nieves at the Universidad Santa María in Caracas. In 1985, I received a grant from the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos Rómulo Gallegos (Celarg), where I attended a poetry workshop. From 1986-1996, I also studied painting at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas and the Instituto de Arte Federico Brandt in Caracas. From 2000-2005, I studied “New Techniques for Expression and Psychoanalysis in Art: The Archetypes” at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas.
