Merryn J Trevethan

Born in Melbourne Australia, I am currently based in Singapore. My work is an ongoing exploration of the uncertainty of perception in densely populated urban environments flooded with visual information. I am fascinated by how our lives are increasingly dominated by looking at images on tiny screens and the implications this has for contemporary perceptual painting. We are all so obsessed with our screens that we often forget to experience looking. I want to create situations in which to “see”; that force us to experience the physic effects that our perception is capable of producing. My work aims to remind us of the uncertainty, turbulence and limitations of visual perception.
