Joan Freeman

Born in North Yorkshire 1948 and spent my childhood in Redcar. i was not fortunate to study at art school in the 60s so the next creative outlet was hairdressing . At 20 my main career was in hairdressing having 2 salons and teaching. After many yrs in South Africa my family moved to Lincolnshire where i decided to retire from teaching hairdressing and went to study fine art . Which i gained a Fine Art BA Hons Degree in 2004.
These mixed media Abstract paintings originates from my menories the vibraint life and colours of my time in Africa. My strenghts are in the ability to manipulate the material substance, using its own intrinsic qualities to communicate my personal expression of colour.and sensations .
