Kama Zakirova

I am a figurative artist with a background in design living in Bristol. My chosen mediums are watercolour paints and ballpoint pens, and recently I started exploring oil.

Painting/drawing people and creating abstract shapes are two things I enjoy the most, and I like combining abstract art with representational elements.
I start by laying watercolour "wet in wet" which gives unique effects every time. The way first layers of watercolour dry on paper influences figurative and abstract components that I add later using ballpoint pen and watercolour.

I complete some paintings in a few days but I feel others need to sit before I can return to them.
Intuition is part of my process and through art I explore connections between people, presence and absence, memories, conscious and unconscious.
