Sounya Whang

French Korean origin, the daughter of a painter, calligrapher, Sounya Planes painted since his childhood. rnBased in France since 1994, she continued her studies and artistic research. Paradoxically, in France she became aware of the value of art of his country, the delicate landscapes, still lifes, portraits and calligraphy. rnEmploying the usual materials of the artist : Chinese ink, watercolor, Sounya remains inseparable from questions about the nature and man. "Trace" is the witness of his thinking. rnShe published her first collection of paintings and poems, entitled "Traces and Signs" in Alternatives Publishing. She also leaves a remarkable book combining painting and poetry "Traces and signs". Although his paintings tend toward abstraction, Sounya Planes care of other strong features of traditional art. From his point of view, a work, even completely abstract, should always be the result of a long observation of the real world. It also reclaims the typical traditional tool : the ink. His unique art reconciles the traditional techniques of Chinese ink extolling the gesture and the purity of line and colour, with a crude pleasure extremely sensitive lyrical abstraction.
