Peter Ray Mwasha

I was born in 1981 in the Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. When I was a little boy I started painting and sketching what I saw around my trees, mountains, animals. But it was only after finishing technical college that I really began taking art seriously. My work is abstract but based on traditional Maasai culture, music, and stories, and through my art, I have discovered my own Maasai identity. Art is about communication. My art speaks to me every day, but it also speaks to the world about Africa.

I am a self taught artist seeking inspiration from African culture and its myriad aspects in daily life. My work has been in the Biannual exhibition Dar es Saalam a number times, along with regional shows along the coast.I have also displayed my artwork in Gibb's Farm gallery where I come twice a year for display.,

In 2015 exhibited in Agora art gallery New York the United States, Re-find art gallery in Easton Pennsylvania, and other group shows in different places.
