Tinne Roza Van Der Steen

Born in Belgium 23/10/1985.

The moment, the day, reality. My work stems from the people and places that surround me, has increasingly found its origin in the intense experience of daily life. I started painting at the age of five. As life twists and turns I decided to walk a different road when I was 17: I studied fashion to become a qualified theatre costume designer, a carreer which I still hold very dear, a future which might still be in store for me, an important source of inspiration for anything that might come. Nevertheless the urge was too strong. I returned to my first call, found out that creating, drawing, painting comes natural and is essential to me.

Since 2007 I have been working vigourously, intensively travelling through my personal experience and its expression through the different styles and skills of the art. It has been a continuous quest, which I hope it will stay: at times bewildering and imposing questions, at times questioning framework and style, but always interesting and stimulating. My art has evolved through time, as a person does, crossing many different borders such as style and topic, technique and timbre.
