Vera Chipatso Justice Mlia-Sheriff is a Malawian artist and art historian with a Womanist influence. Her work aims at challenging people’s thinking with the concept that woman acts as a monitor of the wild side of man in a society and exposes the subconscious attitude that people have towards woman for that role. Vera's work does not fight for the status of men and women as equals but as two different figures with different important roles in the society that have to be equally respected and recognised.
She holds a BA and studied under artists like Massa Lemu and Peter Goff. She worked for a local bank for 4 years before resigning to follow her artistic dream.
She is also an author, activist, singer and songwriter.
