Mari Ziden

Mari Zidn studied the art and craft of working with silver and glass in several of Stockholm s art institutes before establishing her own glass and silver studio in and old dairy in nge in northern Sweden. Most of the work is based on kiln-formed glass. To different shaping techniques Ms. Zidn brings fresh inventiveness and excitement in her approach to exploring the interplay of surfaces and color.Ms. Zidn is constantly thinking about the light and how it will reflect and refract in her vibrant sculptures and bowls. At the latitude of her studio, sunlight is powerful influence since it is generously available at night in the middle of the summer and virtually absent around the winter solstice. About Ms. Zidn source of inspiration she says When I studied graphic design in Stockholm , I became intrigued by the ornate decorative carvings on old buildings, old wallpaper designs and also by the designs of contemporary tattoo artists.
